This fantastic course builds your existing soft tissue skills and adds a comprehensive package of assessment, evaluation and appreciation of low back and pelvic pain from an evidence informed perspective.
Learn MoreWe know that current evidence surrounding low back pain doesn't support that traditional view that poor posture equals pain. We also know that pelvic and leg length symmetry is not required to eliminate pain.
However, there is still a place for being confident and competent in pelvic assessment and providing appropriate soft tissue skills that help a client on their journey back to a pain-free active lifestyle.
Low back pain is a leading cause of disability in the UK. Expert opinion in a review article notes that up to 60% of the adult population will have low back pain at some point in their lifetime (NICE 2022).
Many therapists get stuck with understanding how the pelvis moves during the gait cycle and its relationship with the legs, ankles and feet below and the spine above.
Traditionally, it is often suggested that low back and pelvic pain relates with lower limb imbalance and with dysfunction of the cervical spine and jaw. However, what is considered as poor posture does not always relate with the experience of pain, especially low back pain - this course helps you to understand why!
Myofascial soft tissue approaches play a valuable role in helping clients feel better about their bodies helping them move better eliminating guarding and fear of movement.
PBPro will help you enhance your understanding of pelvic asymmetry discussing pelvic up slips, down slips, anterior and posterior pelvic tilts and pelvic obliquity. This course will also discuss structural and functional leg length discrepancies and their relevance with pelvic mechanics.
You will gain an in-depth understanding of how and when it is appropriate to provide advanced soft tissue approaches to help your clients achieve optimal function and a pain free active lifestyle.
Advanced techniques are taught using pelvic positioning blocks as an extra pair of hands optimising treatment outcomes.
This will be delivered as a 2-day in-person workshop.
